At aalbers|wico we are always working to improve the quality of our materials and products. The engineers and security experts in our in-house R&D department conduct research relating to structural security on an ongoing basis and develop innovative solutions themselves in this area.
interdisciplinary approach
We have the right specialists on hand for every discipline: intrusion experts, ballistic experts, explosives experts and experts in the area of fire resistance. These professionals work together closely, allowing us to research and develop combinations of intruder-, ballistic-, blast- and fire-resistant materials too.
new materials and products
Over the years our own research has resulted in many innovations. These include WGS and DGS - two types of sheet steel developed by aalbers|wico that are now used in a host of security products. We have also designed various products of our own, ranging from a new type of security door through to a unique explosion bunker.

sophisticated software
Our R&D department makes use of sophisticated computer programs and simulation software. We work with software including AxisVM, SolidWorks and Tekla Structures for designing installations, Thor and ABAQUS for ballistic resistance, and TM-5, WINDAS, ConWep and BEC for conducting research into blast-resistant materials and installations.
commissioned research
